Hinds Community College Foundation
It is the vision of Dr. Richard Lind and the Unite Mississippi Foundation to help give hope to students by providing them with an opportunity to attend Hinds Community College.
We inspire, encourage, and support students to and through college, graduate, and/or attending vocational school by providing information, advising, and scholarship opportunities.
We believe that students need and deserve an education beyond high school. A lack of money should not be an obstacle to a student striving to achieve their educational goals.

Dr. Richard Lind and the Unite Mississippi Foundation is committed to the following:

awarding scholarships provided by generous donors,

mentoring students and their parents from high school through college careers, and

reaching out to encourage students who are underserved or overlooked.

The Dr. Richard Lind Unite Mississippi Foundation Scholarship will be awarded to students who meet the following criteria:

must be enrolled at any location of Hinds Community College and maintain full-time status (enrolled in 15 or more hours per semester and successfully completing a minimum of 12 hours per semester);

must maintain a 2.5 or better cumulative high school and/or HCC grade point average;
-
major in any academic, technical, or career field;
-
must be free of any disciplinary problems;
-
must be a resident of Mississippi; and
-
must attend the Scholarship Recognition Program held in the fall
In order to be considered for this scholarship, students must submit the following requirements by the Foundation Scholarship deadline of February 15:

An Application for Admission to Hinds CC.

An Application for Foundation Scholarships.
-
Two letters of recommendation from individuals representing areas such as school, church, community, civic, work, etc.

A typed resume, which includes a list of achievements, honors, extracurricular activities, work, etc.

A copy of your high school transcript or equivalency diploma transcript and college transcripts, if applicable. Transcripts should verify a current cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. No Foundation Scholarship application will be considered if the candidate’s GPA is below 2.0. If GPA is not listed on the high school transcript, submit a signed High School GPA Verification Form.

ACT scores.

Optional: for students wishing to be considered for a Foundation Scholarship on the basis of financial need, submit FAFSA results to Hinds by February 15.
The recipient of the scholarship will be selected by the District Scholarship Committee, which is appointed annually by the President of the College. The recipient may retain the scholarship for a set number of consecutive semesters determined by the Foundation, providing Foundation funds are available and the student continues to meet the criteria outlined above.
